Cody Simpson fronts Myer’s High Winter campaign: Shares shopping hacks

He’s a pop star and elite swimmer – but now the 25-year-old Gold Coast bloke has added another string to his bow, describing it as “unreal”.

He’s already a singer and just qualified for the Australian swim team for the world championships and Commonwealth Games this year – but Cody Simpson isn’t done adding strings to his bow just yet.

The 25-year-old has just been announced as the face of Myer’s “High Winter” campaign, posing for a series of gorgeous photos alongside former reality star Tayla Damir.

Cody, who starred in his first campaign for the Australian retail giant last year, said he was delighted to work with Myer again – add it still excites him to see his face on materials in stores.

“I’ve had an unreal time working with Myer over the past year and to be in the new High Winter campaign is cool,” he told news.com.au.

“I do my shopping at Myer, so it’s pretty sweet to see my face when I go in.”

While he’s been dedicating all his spare time in the pool training as part of his remarkable transformation from popster to elite swimmer, he managed to squeeze in the modelling job by having the shoot at his Gold Coast home.

The winter fashion shoot is Cody’s fifth campaign with Myer, officially cementing his status as successful model, and as such, he’s picked up a few style tips along the way.

“When in doubt, dress up. People will either assume you’re coming from or going to something nicer,” he said.

Of the warm and cosy outfits he wore for the campaign, Cody said he “digged” the black Levi’s jacket and flannel with the white tee outfit best.

“I always like a wool collar on a winter jacket. Reminds me of the old pilot ones,” he said.

The new campaign drops just a week after Cody finished third in the final of 100m butterfly at the Australian swimming championships, which doubled as the trials for the 2022 world championships and Commonwealth Games.

He swam a time of 51.96, which was marginally slower than his morning heat swim but by finishing in the top three, he did enough to qualify him automatically for the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Cody’s time was exactly on the FINA qualifying mark of 51.96, meaning he will also likely be heading to the world championships in Budapest.

Myer Ambassadors Kris Smith and Rachael Finch also star in the campaign, modelling a mix of coats and jackets ideal for chilly winter temperatures.

There’s also a wide range of knits, sweats and jeans, as well as T-shirts and more available at all Myer outlets and the brand’s online store.
