About 50 people infected with Covid-19 are among the 1500 passengers on-board the Queen Elizabeth cruise ship that has docked in Fremantle.

A Cunard spokesperson said only about half of the guests would disembark.

“Importantly, only a very small percentage of guests disembarking in Fremantle are currently Covid-positive,” they said.

“These guests will disembark separately and use private transport to return home.

“At a time where many tourism operators have been impacted by the current fourth wave, we are pleased our protocols are working.”

The spokesperson could not confirm the specific number of Covid-19 infected people disembarking, but told NCA NewsWire it was in the “vicinity” of 50.

The vessel scrapped plans to visit Bali on Monday due to a growing Covid-19 outbreak on-board.

Cunard has strict protocols in place for passengers and crew.

About 95 per cent of guests over the age of 12 are required to be vaccinated, while five per cent have medical exemptions.

All passengers and crew must return a negative Covid-19 test before boarding.

Crew members are regularly tested for the virus, while the ship is also thoroughly cleaned every day.

Free rapid antigen tests are available to all guests and anyone who tests positive must undergo five days of isolation.

Close contacts are required to test daily before leaving their room.

They must also wear a mask, and dine and drink in separate areas to other guests.

Guests who are Covid-19 positive on arrival to a scheduled destination cannot leave isolation unless they are returning home.

WA recorded more than 10,000 cases of Covid-19 last week.
