In a devastating blow, Manly talisman Tom Trbojevic has been ruled out for the rest of the season according to reports from The Daily Telegraph and The Sydney Morning Herald.

The fullback went for scans on his dislocated shoulder on Saturday morning, with doctors reportedly informing him that the injury is a serious one.

Manly will seek surgical opinions early next week, before they decide on the next course of action.

The 25-year-old injured his shoulder in an in-goal tussle with Parrammatta Eels prop Makahesi Makatoa, during Manly’s heartbreaking 22-20 loss.

“Dislocated shoulder, I think we know that,” Des Hasler told the media in the aftermath of the game.

“We won’t be able to determine the extent of the damage until scans are done,” he said.

The Sea Eagles captain, Daly Cherry-Evans, was also downbeat about Trbojevic’s injury.

“Everyone enjoys watching Tommy play – it doesn’t really matter who you are cheering for, you are cheering for the best players in the game to be out there,” he said.

“Unfortunately, Tom has been injured a few times recently and it has an impact on our side.

“We’ll get around him and make sure he is alright – but the reality is the comp keeps going and we’ll have someone need to step in there next week.”

Meanwhile, Hasler revealed that the fullback was majorly disappointed about copping another injury, after being plagued by them in recent seasons.

“He’ll be bitterly disappointed. He takes it very hard, he blames himself a lot.

“He is just having one of those runs at the moment, but he will bounce back,” Hasler said.

But now Manly’s worst fears may have been realised with Trbojevic facing yet another extended stint on the sidelines.
